I was having a serious conversation with our kids the other day about “fulfillment”. I believe that our hearts are designed to be fulfilled… This is exactly why just doing a job or just getting a degree or just doing our duties of any kind in our lives become meaningless very quickly. Without a vision, without a purpose, without a reason of why we do what we do is so important and priceless and even a matter of survival. I think this is why when people say, “money can’t buy happiness,” it’s really true; hence, as a parent, it is so vital to me that our kids live a life that gives them fulfillment more than anything. The only way we can feel fulfilled is by giving and serving because true love is always outwards and an act of service. Love is a sacrifice and without a cost, it means nothing… Craig and I are so blessed to have a job that gives us this very thing… fulfillment. Yes, we get paid and we work hard to get paid, but the blessing isn’t that although we are grateful… the blessing is what we get to do. Yes, we of course love the photography part of a wedding, but my absolute favorite is our couples themselves. I love being there for our bride for the day when she needs something. I love being that outlet when she needs to vent, being a safe place where she can just say whatever she wants and not feel judged. I love picking up her shoes, putting it on for her if needed, fixing her hair so she’s just perfect, telling her that she’s stunning because she really is, and making sure that she is really able to experience the dream that she has envisioned for her wedding all of our life. Craig is so happy too when he is able to just serve the groom any way possible, making sure he’s ok, making each moment a special moment because it is our goal that they get to feel all the feels on their big day other than stress. We want to be more than just their hired photographer… we want to be their friends! Ah…. you guys… on Misaki + James’s wedding day, we felt that way. We felt like they were our younger brother and sister. They were the most beautiful and the cutest couple. So caring, so kind, so aware of what’s going on. So much that they even made sure that we ate, they made sure that we were all ok and even thanked us. It’s a bit awkward for me when our clients thank us because I’m like, “Oh no! Thank YOU!!” But, for our sweet clients, it’s not about the money. They don’t care that they paid us… they genuinely are kind humans, and there’s no word to describe how thankful I am of that. Not everyone gets to experience work environments like this. Sometimes, it’s really hard, but you know…. what’s not hard in life? Even as I’m typing this, my heart is so full; so full of joy, and we are SO HAPPY to share with the world all the captured moments from this day; the day that Misaki + James committed to each other for the rest of their lives. Misaki + James, you are amazing… really! Wow! We learned so much from you both… You inspired us to be kinder and to love better. May God continue to bless your marriage and guide you in every step like the way He continues to do for us. We hope you love your photos, and can’t wait to hang out with you soon!
