Weddings aren’t just our “business”… it’s our life! We don’t just see weddings on the weekends, we see it and breathe it every single day. Many people have asked us if we ever get sick of it? Tired of it? Or even just get bored of it… When you shoot 40 weddings a year (for the last 11 years), you would think that we would, right? But, it’s crazy how we absolutely don’t… we honestly and genuinely don’t. Here’s the thing. We believe that if you don’t like weddings, you shouldn’t be in this business. PERIOD! It can’t just be a job for you; it must be a passion. It can’t just be a “hobby” or your “side gig”; it must be a profession. Craig and I made a commitment to our couples and we have always said, “The day that we don’t cry at a wedding is the day we know it’s time for us to retire.” So yes, we cry at one point or another at every single wedding. For me these days… it’s usually during the father/daughter and mother/son dances. Of course… we have “those days” as much as anyone, but when you’re responsible to make someone’s BEST day of their life the BEST day of their life, you better LOVE it! And we do… every bit of it. To this day, we anticipate what the bride’s dress will look like on the way to the wedding. Sometimes we don’t want to ask the bride beforehand simply to be surprised and that makes our creative juices flow more. We love seeing our brides so happy and enjoying the moment of getting dolled up to look her best for her groom and for the groom to do the same. We love getting ready photos because after the bride puts her dress on, that's when things start getting real and the whole room gasps when they see the bride in her dress. The dress is EVERYTHING! Even for us as photographers, it sets the tone for the images. The style of the images, the poses, the lighting… so much of what we do is affected by the style of the bride. For a bride to pick that ONE dress out of billions out there, she loved it for a special reason and we are going to showcase it! And my oh my… Hailey’s dress was breathtaking. She picked THE most perfect dress for her… So, I totally remember during their engagement shoot when I told Craig, “She looks like Kate Middleton!” (For those of you who don’t follow the British royal family, that’s Price William’s stunning wife, the Duchess of Cambridge.” Hailey’s style made me think of Kate’s. Everything about her was so classy and so when I saw her wedding dress, I too gasped, but at the same time, I wasn’t surprised that she would choose such a breathtaking one. It was one of the most unique ones I’ver ever seen and for her to have the perfect figure for it made it that much better. After seeing her dress, I looked up the designer’s Instagram and didn’t hesitate in following. :) And, what’s a bride without a dapper groom? Gabriel looked amazing in his made to measure suit and together, this couple defined “picture perfect.” (By the way… just like you, I’m noticing that I’m using a lot of quotations marks on this blog. hehe) I mean, don’t you agree with me that they just look so amazing? Fabulous? Gorgeous? Gosh… If I only had a better vocabulary bank in my brain to give these guys a better adjective! Like seriously… I’m just not saying this. This wedding is at the TOP of my favorite list now and will be for a very long time.
Hailey + Gabriel, we are very grateful for you. We are so happy that we got connected on Instagram! Social media does bring the world closer and it has been our honor getting to know you, your friends and your amazing family. It has been a joy spending time with you guys at the engagement session and especially on your wedding day all day! You’re the real deal and your day has been any photographer’s dream. We hope that you love your photos as much as we did and that these photographs will allow you to relive the best day of your life over and over again as you share them with one another and your loved ones. I can’t wait to work with you again in the future for any of your photographic needs! Thank you once again… stay safe and well during this time. Cheers!
With much love,
Craig + Unchong
