I grew up with parents who were complete homebodies. They never really had any strong desire to travel and if they did, it was at most a 2-3 hour drive. That was enough for them and because that’s all I knew growing up, that was good enough for me too. Our thing was watching TV together and just chillaxing… well, things changed when I met husband quite a bit. I married someone totally on the other end of the spectrum. This man can never do ‘nothing’ and always is up for an adventure. He can’t ever say ‘no’ to anything and has a strong case of FOMO. To fit his personality, he got into photography… and let me tell you… he does it in a very adventurous way. If he sees a shot that he wants, he will somehow get it! So, all that to say… I had to learn to be ok with all the adventures and spontaneous decision. I had to learn to be more outgoing and take risks and just go for it sometimes. Now, I’ve come to learn to LOVE traveling and just discovering new things ALL.THE.TIME. I can’t believe that my priority in life has become seeing our beautiful county and our world with our children. I’m so thankful that our kids are able to see things that I never got to experience at their age and just learn so much through simply going to places and meeting all sorts of people. One of my favorite parts of our job is to be able to travel for weddings. I can’t believe it, but it was my first time ever in Chicago! (It was Craig’s third.) I’ve always heard only great things about Chicago and wow, I now know what they meant! It is truly now my favorite city in the US. I got so excited because Craig added on another day for us to just tour the day before Pamela + DeAngelo’s wedding. I think we walked over 12 miles that day to see just about everything around the beautiful city. While we were doing that, we were also scoping out where to shoot for their portraits as well. We had the most fabulous time together! The weather was FANTASTIC… being from Georgia, it get so crazy hot and humid in the summer, but in Chicago, it felt like what we have in the fall! Couldn’t believe that I needed a sweater in the evening in July… say WHAT?! It made me want to move there, but many locals warned me that it’s nice only in the summer and that the winter can be quite torturous. I realized that there’s no perfect place after all… I may not have the guts to visit in the winter, but we are definitely going back to show our kids sometime soon!
The next day, we got to do what we went to Chicago for. It was to celebrate our gorgeous couple, Pamela + DeAngelo’s wedding and you guys… it was amazing! As creatives, we LOVE shooting in new locations. Well, this was beyond a new location for us, it was new EVERYTHING! Craig’s brain couldn’t contain all the creative juices that were flowing. He wanted to shoot EVERYWHERE, so I had to calm him down a little. lol But really… it was so picturesque everywhere we went and we just wish we had another 12 hours with our bride and groom. And on top of all these great conditions, our couple was so photogenic too! Goodness gracious, Pamela looked like a doll in her amazing dress and DeAngelo’s tux fit him perfectly AND we loved the unique color. They both honestly looked like runway models, so every click of the shutter said, “BOOM BABY!”. The day went smoothly… we were grateful for bridesmaids and groomsmen who were punctual and nice to work with. Everyone cooperated so well especially in the streets where it got very crowded at one point. They all rocked it out! As photographers, we had absolutely no complaint whatsoever! Pamela + DeAngelo, we thank you for making our first wedding ever in Chicago one of the best wedding experiences for us. We appreciate you both so much for being super easy to work with and just looking gorgeous in front of the camera. Meeting you has been an honor… it was so fun getting to be part of your most special day. Have the best marriage and we hope that you LOVE your photos! Blessings upon blessings to you!
With much love,
Craig + Unchong
