These days, we have been watching movies with our kids that are inspirational true stories on athletes that have overcome the impossible. I love seeing how it impacts our kids and even if it’s a little, I want them to see what “not quitting” looks like and that they can do the same thing or something even greater. With this post wedding shoot, we had to reschedule it twice because of rain… oy… weather can become a big headache in our business, but hey, what can I say? That’s just part of it. The third day that we rescheduled it to was still kinda “eh” with the weather. We couldn’t tell if it was going to be one of those summer afternoon showers or a downpour or what. The hourly forecast kept changing for the better and the chance of rain kept decreasing to only about 15%, so we went for it! Well, that 15% chance of rain became 100% as we were all driving to meet at the location. We got there and it rained cats and dogs. I was like, “OMG!!!! What are we going to do?” My mind was stressed out to the max. We felt awful that the call we made was not a good one and our beautiful couple was already dressed and ready to go. But, you know what? Adaugo + Allen never expressed that stress. They were the most calm and peaceful couple I’ve ever encountered. Allen kept saying, “It’s ok…” with a smile on his face! In that moment, I learned something… That it really is ok. There’s only so much you can control in life and sometimes, there’s NOTHING that you can control. We were so thankful that this happened with a couple who was so understanding and sweet. We kept looking at the radar and the forecast and felt that we should just wait a little bit. Because sometimes, waiting is a great thing… It looked like the rain may pass over us, but we took a chance and waited. While we waited, we just talked about life and that was my favorite part of the shoot. These two are so knowledgable and intelligent communicators, so wow… I learned A LOT in just those few minutes! If they ever become a teacher or a professor somewhere, I’m totally taking their class! So, here was the plan…. if the rain doesn’t stop, we decided that we would take at least one or two shots of them since they were already dressed (we were at a parking deck) and then reschedule another session for another day. But, guess what??? After 30 minutes, it stopped and the rain never came back! In fact, the rain made the temps a bit cooler and cloudy. Every photographer knows that cloudy is the most ideal weather condition for photos, so that in itself was great. But my gosh… the clouds looked amazing and then the most stunning rainbow I have ever seen in my life showed up! It was truly magnificent! Oh, I couldn’t help but say, “That’s God’s promise.” Oh, the supernatural feeling of peace came over me… Oh, what a little bit of patience and waiting can do! It was so worth the wait. What if we had just given up and left? What if we all just got frustrated and ruined the night in our hearts? What if we all blamed one another? Allen said how there were so many signs that night… YES! God was giving us divine signs left and right and that felt amazing… I felt like God’s grace was covering us and Adaugo + Allen’s marriage and that they were truly blessed. Ya’ll… it turned out to be one of the best nights we’ve ever had. Our couple as you can see were beyond gorgeous. People kept stopping and telling them “CONGRATULATIONS!” and complimenting how amazing they looked. We felt like we were escorting a king and a queen around the Avalon and that felt great! Every shot was “BOOM BABY!” They’re just so photogenic which made our job easy. We had so much fun throughout the whole shoot. It was such a hot night that we had to end it with some ice cream and cool down! We spent a short while just sitting there, talking about life again and enjoying our ice cream like little kids. I think Craig shared a little too much about his childhood, so I hope they still think we are “normal”. LOL! OMG! It was so so so fun! Adaugo + Allen, thank you for EVERYTHING! You guys have been the most ideal couple in so many ways. We are sincerely grateful for you… May God continue to give you signs and bless you in ways you can’t even imagine! I pray that you’ll never forget the rainbow from this shoot and that your faith will always be with Him in all things. Be blessed!
With much love,
Craig + Unchong
