Every time I write a blog, it gives me a time of refection. I’m thankful that this is part of my job because I have to do it, and it’s good for me. When you reflect on things, it makes you slow down and really realize how much you do have and how much there is to be thankful for. As I scroll down these photographs, I feel that I can see it in Barbie’s perspective…. I feel that she too will get teary as she look at these and realize how beautiful her family is. Gosh, it made me teary and these aren’t even my own kids! But, I can relate in how proud she must feel for her children and the family she has achieved. Yes, it’s surely an achievement… Any parent can tell you and share how much it takes to raise a child and how it’s the hardest job in the world, and they have FOUR of them! There’s so much joy, but they all come with challenges. Every stage in the life of a child has its own set of sweetness and hardship, but you’ll also find that they every parent will say, “It was worth it all.”.
When Barbie expressed that she wanted to get family portrait sessions with us, we were so stoked. She has two seniors that graduated this year, so what a milestone it is for this special family. We shot this family’s first session I think…. six years ago? Wow, their kids were so little then and look at them now! They’re taller than them! Holy moly, what did they feed them? :) In all seriousness though, they look so beautiful, don’t they? I feel like I’m seeing my future in about seven years from now which is pretty close…. so, before Craig went to the shoot, I asked Craig to tell Barbie + Brian, “Please tell them I said HI!”. And then I said, “Wait… I don’t think I’ve EVER met them!” Craig couldn’t believe it either. Ok, so I have this problem with looking at our client’s photos so much that when I meet them in real life, I many times don’t remember if I actually met them or not. I act like I totally know them because I feel like I do through the photos, and they look at me like I’m crazy. Anyhow, Craig and I both couldn’t believe that after all these years, I still have not met this family. OMG… how is this possible?! I can’t wait for the day! Craig told me that he had such a good time reuniting with them an photographing this season of their lives. I mean, of course! How could you not? They are so full of life and joy, and I love that…. They look like THE coolest parents and seriously, I want to be like that “when I grow up”.
Barbie + Brian… you guys have set the bar VERY high as parents. You have done a spectacular job in raising your children so lovingly. How much you love each other and them is so apparent… Thank you so much for coming to us once again to do your portraits. As always, it’s an honor and we hope to be your photographers for life! We are very grateful for you and your family. We hope that these photographs will always be a reminder to cherish your family.
With much love,
Craig + Unchong
