One day, I watched a YouTube video with my kids about a guy who crossed America to deliver something to a friend. It’s a really cool story, so you if you want to watch it, here’s the link. Well, my biggest takeaway from it was at the end when he said that “It’s not about the journey or even the destination… it’s about the people.” That really stuck out to me because you know what? He’s right… And, that’s what I love the most about our job too. What makes our job great is not the business or the photography in itself, it’s the people that we get to meet along the way. Many people ask us why we don’t get into landscape photography often. And, our answer is the same… “Because there are no people in it!” Really for us, a photo is pretty pointless when there’s no person in it. Yes, we actually do want to be able to sell landscapes and all of that, but our heart is in the emotions that people express. Without the emotions of these significant events in their lives, there would be no purpose in what we do. I loved the fact that we got this opportunity with Marie + Damien… I was so super duper bummed when we found out that we couldn’t shoot their wedding because we were already booked, but I was so happy that they were at least willing to do their engagement portraits with us. If they weren’t willing, I would’ve never gotten to meet them and you know what? I would have missed out on these beautiful smiles and meeting one of the most sweet couples ever. We take these encounters seriously because I truly believe that every connection is not a coincidence. Marie + Damien, we thank you for giving us this time with you! We loved every second of it and being able to capture this season of your life has been so special. Thank you for choosing us and we really hope that we get to photograph you again in the future. Maybe family portraits or anniversary portraits? I’m sure there will be so many events to celebrate in your life, and we can’t wait for them!
