“THREE weeks?” is the response we got mostly when people ask what we’ve been up to. Yes, you heard right… 21 days was the goal and we did it! It was more of a mission than a vacation per se. When we decided to take our girls out of their school and register them to our county’s online school and homeschool our son, we wanted to make that decision count.
I’m seriously getting old because our couples are looking younger and younger to me more than ever before. Sometimes, our kids are closer to our clients’ age than I am to them, and that’s just weird! Ha! Our kids have discovered many gray hairs on our heads lately, and I’m telling you… it’s kinda scary.
At each wedding, I learn something… sometimes, it’s what not to do or how not to be and sometimes it’s everything I want to do and everything I want to be. At Elissa + Mats’s wedding, it was the latter. Even though changing plans can be disappointing or become a hassle, sometimes it becomes something that was the best for us after all.
Our business journey has fortunately given us so many opportunities that no other job ever would have. It’s a job that really gives us an adventure in life that an “office job” couldn’t. It definitely has its own stress and endless things that we had to overcome and still do just like anything else in life, but we don’t regret one bit the life choice we made.
Meeting brides at bridal shows has been our tradition for many years! That’s the way we met Elizabeth + Thomas awhile back, and it was so good seeing them again. If you follow us on our stories, you know that we like to travel as much as we possibly can with our kiddos, so any road trip is very fun for us! Hightower Falls was the venue that our couple chose, and we were so glad because this place is beautiful! We’ve been here a couple of times before for a few weddings, and it’s always been in different seasons.
Every family has a story, and it’s amazing how God makes all things good to those who love Him. This sweet family has a beautiful story, and even from a distance, we have been so touched by it. When Blake contacted us about her family portraits, I felt so honored that they’d want us to capture them.
Everyone has a story… and that is what makes each one of us unique. I love getting to know about someone’s past because it makes me understand where they are now and it allows me to appreciate them that much more. As photographers, when we know our couple’s story, it give us an emotional aspect that gives us more creativity and meaning behind what we are doing.
