At each wedding, I learn something… sometimes, it’s what not to do or how not to be and sometimes it’s everything I want to do and everything I want to be. At Elissa + Mats’s wedding, it was the latter. Even though changing plans can be disappointing or become a hassle, sometimes it becomes something that was the best for us after all.
Our business journey has fortunately given us so many opportunities that no other job ever would have. It’s a job that really gives us an adventure in life that an “office job” couldn’t. It definitely has its own stress and endless things that we had to overcome and still do just like anything else in life, but we don’t regret one bit the life choice we made.
Meeting brides at bridal shows has been our tradition for many years! That’s the way we met Elizabeth + Thomas awhile back, and it was so good seeing them again. If you follow us on our stories, you know that we like to travel as much as we possibly can with our kiddos, so any road trip is very fun for us! Hightower Falls was the venue that our couple chose, and we were so glad because this place is beautiful! We’ve been here a couple of times before for a few weddings, and it’s always been in different seasons.
Everyone has a story… and that is what makes each one of us unique. I love getting to know about someone’s past because it makes me understand where they are now and it allows me to appreciate them that much more. As photographers, when we know our couple’s story, it give us an emotional aspect that gives us more creativity and meaning behind what we are doing.
If you know me, I’m a HUGE royal fan…. well, when Kate Middleton married Prince Williams, that is… We were one of those crazy folks that got up 3am in the morning to watch their wedding LIVE on British television. I was so into their story and since then have been hooked on following the British monarchy and just learning more about it, especially the deep history.
The timing of this post is so neat because just today, I was teaching our son about confidence today and why being shy is something that we need to overcome. A mentor of mine once explained to me why being shy is actually a sin. I was like, “whaaaaaa?” You see, when you are, you’re keeping yourself from being able to do what God has created you to do.
